Getting started

Four steps, about five minutes. You'll need Google Chrome and a QuickBooks Online company you can sign in to.

  1. 1

    Install and pin the icon

If you haven't yet, add BankFeedSearch from the Chrome Web Store.

Chrome tucks new extensions away under the puzzle-piece button at the top right of the browser. Click it, find BankFeedSearch, and click the pin beside it. The BankFeedSearch icon then stays in the toolbar, where you'll find your account, plan and connected companies.

  2. 2

    Create your account

Click the BankFeedSearch icon, then Create an account. Use your work email: it's where invitations, password resets and receipts go.

If someone invited you to their account, create your account with the email address the invitation was sent to, then click Join. You can skip step 3: you're on their plan.

  3. 3

Pick a plan and start your trial

Click Choose a plan, pick a plan and monthly or annual billing, then continue to checkout. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and you aren't charged until it ends. Not sure which plan? See pricing: Solo and Team cover one company, Pro and Firm cover as many as you need.

Have a code? Click Have a code? next to the total before you check out.

  4. 4

    Run your first search

Open a company in QuickBooks Online and go to Bank Feeds. Highlight any part of a transaction's description, such as "SQ *BYU MECH", and click the Search QBO button that appears.

The first time you search a company, Intuit's sign-in window opens so you can approve the connection. After that, searches in that company just run. More on connecting QuickBooks.

To use a result, click it, then click the transaction's Category field: the account is filled in for you.

Tips

Highlight less, find more

Bank descriptions often add a store number, city or date that changes every time. Highlight the part that stays the same ("SQ *BYU MECH" rather than the whole line) and you'll catch every past charge from that payee.

No Search QBO button?

Make sure you're signed in (click the BankFeedSearch icon), and that you're in QuickBooks Online in Chrome. If you installed BankFeedSearch while QuickBooks was already open, reload the QuickBooks tab once.

Working with a team?

On Team and Firm plans, the account owner invites people from the BankFeedSearch icon → Account & billing. Everyone on the account searches the same connected companies.
